Know your worth

 Know Your Worth

Before he died, the father said to his son: “This is a watch your grandfather gave me. It is almost 200 years old now. But before I give it to you, go to the watch shop on the first street . Tell him I want to sell it, and see how much he offers you."

He went to the watch shop then came back to his father and said: "The watchmaker offered 150 dollars because it's old."

He said to him: “Go to the coffee shop."

He went to the coffee shop then came back to his father and said, "The coffee maker offered 10 dollars because it's outmoded."

“Go to the museum and show that watch”.

He went to the museum then came back, and said to his father: “The curator offered me half a million dollars for this very rare piece to be included in their precious antique collections."

The father said: “I wanted to let you know that the right place values you in the right way. Don't find yourself in the wrong place and get angry if you are not valued. Those that know your value are those who appreciate you, don't stay in a place where nobody sees your value."

Dreams And Goals

 Dreams and Goals

What are your dreams and goals? Not related to the past or what you think you can get, but what you want. Have you ever really sat down, thought through your life values and decided what you really want? This isn’t what someone else says you should have or what culture tells us successful people do or have.

These are the dreams and goals born out of your own heart and mind, goals unique to you and that come from who you were created to be and gifted to become.

SMART Goals

SMART means Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Time-sensitive.

1.Specific: Don’t be vague. Exactly what do you want?

2.Measurable: Quantify your goal. How will you know if you’ve achieved it or not?

3.Attainable: Be honest with yourself about what you can reasonably accomplish at this point in your life while taking into consideration your current responsibilities.

4.Realistic: It’s got to be doable, real and practical.

5.Time: Associate a time frame with each goal. When should you complete the goal?

Goals, Priorities and Time Scheduling

 Goals, Priorities and Time Scheduling

Let’s start by covering productivity secrets related to goal setting, priorities, and managing your time:

1. Make a to-do list the night before.

If you start the day with a clear to-do list, you’ll have direction for the rest of the day.

2. Learn to say no.

Some things simply aren’t worth your time. Say “no” more frequently and make time for the things that matter most.

3. Wake up and go to bed consistently.

A consistent sleep schedule will help you feel well rested, but it will also set the foundation for a stricter daily schedule.

4. Keep a routine.

Routines cut down on time you spend switching tasks and eliminate some uncertainty in your day. They can (and should) be broken occasionally.

5. Think of your time in chunks.

schedules his day in five-minute blocks. You don’t have to be that extreme, but do consider your time in chunks to schedule more efficiently.

6. Use an Eisenhower matrix.

The Eisenhower Matrix is a system that forces you to prioritize in terms of both urgency and importance, so you can more efficiently decide what your highest needs are.

7. Set personal goals

Long-term,Mid-term and short-term goals will keep you focused on what’s most important.

8. Keep a list of secondary and tertiary tasks to work on.

You’ll occasionally find yourself with dead time, so keep a list of background tasks to keep you busy in these spaces.

9. Define the “challenge” level of each task.

This will help you mentally prepare for each type of task and reorganize your day according to these challenge levels.

10. Break big tasks into smaller tasks.

Make things more manageable and easier to schedule.

11. Know when to procrastinate.

Procrastination is usually a bad thing, but it can work in your favor—if you’ll be able to complete this task more efficiently in the future, with no consequences.

12. Plan your conversations.

Meetings and phone calls can waste a lot of time, so think about what you want to say in advance. Just don’t become a robot.

13. Always schedule in smaller time intervals. People mistakenly schedule meetings to last half an hour or an hour, resulting in time waste. Consider scheduling 20-minute or 15-minute meetings instead.

14. leave some breathing room in your schedule. If you over-schedule, you’ll wish you had more flexible time to get things done.

15. Think about outcomes instead of effort. When scheduling and prioritizing, think about the big-picture results of each action, rather than the amount of effort each action will take.

16. Do little tasks immediately. Don’t let those pesky one-minute tasks pile up. Do them right away.

17. Set personal deadlines. According to Parkinson’s Law, the amount of time it takes to do something swells to fill whatever time was allocated for it. Therefore, if you schedule tighter deadlines for yourself, you should be able to complete your work faster.

You Grow Now

 You Grow Now

1. Just Chill

Schedule in 30 minutes of idle time each day next week. Don’t waste it on social media. Just be with yourself, alone, quietly, and let your creative ideas flow freely.

2. Give Thanks

You may feel like something has been taken from you by circumstances out of your control. The best remedy? Make a devoted effort to improve your gratitude for all that you still have.

3. Tell Yourself

We all have our backstories. But your past is only a positive influence if you frame the story correctly. Remind yourself of the greatness you’ve already accomplished.

4. Focus Internally

Make a short list of the most important things currently under your control. It won’t solve all the world’s problems, but keeping your focus on those things will help keep you centered.

5. Put Yourself First

In relationships, we all have a tendency to bend toward our counterpart. That’s fine unless we near a breaking point. If you feel like your dreams are being held back by someone else, it’s time for a frank discussion with them.

6. Think Critically

If you’ve got an entrepreneurial itch, but can’t ever seem to get started, your self-limiting beliefs may be an issue. Take some time to journal this weekend about your fears so you can tackle them.

7. Make Smile

Your teammates will work harder if they know you’ve got their back. Schedule in a weekly or monthly pleasant surprise to keep the rewarding feelings of happiness flowing.

8. Overcome Together

Self-pity can be debilitating. If you have a problem that seems to be slowing your pace, search for a mentor or coach who can help you through it. You don’t have to go alone.

9. Take Action

Now is the time to get serious about your personal growth. Consider each of the resources we’ve curated and make a commitment to improve your skill set.

Way to Learn Faster

Learning new things is a huge part of life -- we should always be striving to learn and grow. But it takes time, and time is precious. So how can you make the most of your time by speeding up the learning process? we now have a better understanding of how we learn and the most effective ways our brains process and hold on to information.

If you want to get a jump start on expanding your knowledge, here are 10 proven ways you can start learning faster today.

1. Take notes with pen and paper.

Though it might seem that typing your notes on a laptop during a conference or lecture will be more thorough, thus helping you learn faster, it doesn’t work that way. To speed up your learning, skip the laptop and take notes the old-fashioned way, with pen and paper. Research has shown that those who type in their lecture notes process and retain the information at a lower level. Those who take notes by hand actually learn more.

While taking notes by hand is slower and more cumbersome than typing, the act of writing out the information fosters comprehension and retention. Reframing the information in your own words helps you retain the information longer, meaning you’ll have better recall and will perform better on tests.

2. Have effective note-taking skills.

The better your notes are, the faster you’ll learn. Knowing how to take thorough and accurate notes will help you remember concepts, gain a deeper understanding of the topic and develop meaningful learning skills. So, before you learn a new topic, make sure you learn different strategies for note taking.

Whatever method you use, some basic tips for note taking include:

Listen and take notes in your own words.

Leave spaces and lines between main ideas so you can revisit them later and add information.

Develop a consistent system of abbreviations and symbols to save time.

Write in phrases, not complete sentences.

Learn to pull out important information and ignore trivial information.

3. Distributed practice.

The first step is to take thorough notes while the topic is being discussed. Afterward, take a few minutes to look over your notes, making any additions or changes to add detail and ensure accuracy.

Do this quickly, once or twice following each class or period of instruction. Over time, you can begin to spread the sessions out, starting with once per day and eventually moving to three times a week. Spacing out practice over a longer period of time is highly effective, because it’s easier to do small study sessions and you’ll stay motivated to keep learning.

4. Study, sleep, more study.

You have a big project or a major presentation tomorrow and you’re not prepared. If you’re like many of us, you stay up too late trying to cram beforehand. Surely your hard work will be rewarded, even if you’re exhausted the next day… right? However, that’s not the most efficient way for our brains to process information.

Research shows a strong connection between sleep and learning. It seems that getting some shut-eye is an important element in bolstering how our brains remember something. Deep sleep (non-rapid-eye-movement sleep) can strengthen memories if the sleep occurs within 12 hours of learning the new information. And students who both study and get plenty of sleep not only perform better academically; they’re also happier.

5. Modify your practice.

If you're learning a skill, don’t do the same thing over and over. Making slight changes during repeated practice sessions will help you master a skill faster than doing it the same way every time. In one study of people who learned a computer-based motor skill, those who learned a skill and then had a modified practice session where they practiced the skill in a slightly different way performed better than those who repeated the original task over and over.

6. Try a mnemonic device.

One of the best ways to memorize a large amount of information quickly is to use a mnemonic device: a pattern of letters, sounds or other associations that assist in learning something. One of the most popular mnemonic devices is one we learned in kindergarten -- the alphabet song. This song helps children remember their “ABCs,” and it remains deeply ingrained in our memory as adults.

Mnemonics help you simplify, summarize and compress information to make it easier to learn. It can be really handy for students in medical school or law school, or people studying a new language. So, if you need to memorize and store large amounts of new information, try a mnemonic and you’ll find you remember the information long past your test.

7. Use brain breaks to restore focus.

Information overload is a real thing. In order to learn something new, our brains must send signals to our sensory receptors to save the new information, but stress and overload will prevent your brain from effectively processing and storing information.

When we are confused, anxious or feeling overwhelmed, our brains effectively shut down. You can see this happen when students listening to long, detailed lectures “zone out” and stop paying attention to what’s being said.

They simply aren’t able to effectively conduct that information into their memory banks, so learning shuts down. The best way to combat this is by taking a “brain break,” or simply shifting your activity to focus on something new. Even a five-minute break can relieve brain fatigue and help you refocus.

8. Stay hydrated.

We know we should drink water because it’s good for us -- it’s good for our skin and our immune system, and it keeps our body functioning optimally. But staying hydrated is also key to our cognitive abilities. Drinking water can actually make us smarter. According to one study, students who took water with them to an examination room performed better than those who didn’t.

Dehydration, on the other hand, can seriously affect our mental function. When you fail to drink water, your brain has to work harder than usual.

9. Learn information in multiple ways.

When you use multiple ways to learn something, you’ll use more regions of the brain to store information about that subject. This makes that information more interconnected and embedded in your brain. It basically creates a redundancy of knowledge within your mind, helping you truly learn the information and not just memorize it.

You can do this by using different media to stimulate different parts of the brain, such as reading notes, reading the textbook, watching a video and listening to a podcast or audio file on the topic. The more resources you use, the faster you’ll learn.

10. Connect what you learn with something you know.

The more you can relate new concepts to ideas that you already understand, the faster the you’ll learn the new information. According to the book Make It Stick, many common study habits are counterproductive. They may create an illusion of mastery, but the information quickly fades from our minds.

Memory plays a central role in our ability to carry out complex cognitive tasks, such as applying knowledge to problems we haven’t encountered before and drawing inferences from facts already known. By finding ways to fit new information in with preexisting knowledge, you’ll find additional layers of meaning in the new material. This will help you fundamentally understand it better, and you’ll be able to recall it more accurately.

Potential And Goal

Potential and  Goal

Becoming your best self is part attitude and part strategy. I can’t help you with attitude, because that comes from within. But I can offer tips on how to unlock your potential and reach your goals.

1.Focus on your strengths.
This is really simple: You’re good at some stuff. You are not-so-good at other stuff. Focus on the stuff you’re good at. Where you are naturally good, you have the potential to become great if you put time into developing those talents. Conversely, if you get too wrapped up in worrying about your weaknesses, you’re probably wasting time and energy.

2.Focus on today.
One of my favorite sayings is, “Yesterday ended last night.” It doesn’t matter whether yesterday was good or bad. It’s over. Don’t get stuck there. For that matter, don’t think too much about the future, either. You can’t change the past; you can’t mold the future. But you can influence what happens right now. Give the present day your full attention and best effort.

3.Focus on your priorities.
Protect your calendar! Your daily agenda can be turned upside down by others and the many requests they send your way. Be selective about what you do because you can’t do it all. As the late motivational speaker Zig Ziglar said, “Lack of direction, not lack of time, is the problem. We all have 24-hour days.” Choose your priorities and use your time to accomplish them.

4.Focus on your results.
It’s easy to become tired or frustrated when the work is hard and the journey long. If you start feeling aimless, make like a 4-year-old and pester yourself with questions. What am I working toward? Why am I trying to achieve it? Why does it matter? Reminding yourself of your purpose will keep you focused on the big picture, and your drive to succeed will triumph over adversity.

5.Focus on your contribution.
The best version of you will emerge when you decide to use your potential to make the world a better place. As author Steve Maraboli says, “You were put on this earth to achieve your greatest self…. Do it courageously.” Improve yourself and improve your world.
